Club Leadership

About Us

The presidential election of 2008 was an historic event in America’s history. A country seeking hope and change elected its’ first black president. People from all walks of life devoted many hours and worked tirelessly to put Barack Obama in the white house. The Yes We Can Democratic Club was created from this experience and seeks to promote a progressive agenda in our government. Join us as we fight to win the future for America.

President

Chris Robson is a long term political activist, community organizer, campaign field operations manager and membership recruiter. Chris' political activism goes back to the anti-Vietnam war movement, the 1992 election campaign for Clinton-Gore, and the 2004 Kerry-Edwards campaign where he was a member of the So Cal Grassroots Coordinating Committee and organized travel to the battleground states of Arizona, Nevada, Ohio and Florida.  Chris held the office of president of the Camarillo Democratic Club, was elected as a Delegate to the State Party and ran a congressional campaign among other involvements.
Chris' involvement in the 2008 election included travelling to Nevada and phone banking for Obama-Biden, field operations volunteering for Russ Warner for Congress and working locally to defeat Prop. 8.
Having joined the YWCdc at the 2009 Inaugural Celebration, Chris' focus has been on health care and health insurance reform since June. Working closely with Organizing for America, California, he serves as the Community Organizer for Congressional District 37. He has succeeded in his goal of close cooperation with OFACA, while maintaining the YWCdc as an autonomous organization.

Vice President, Graphics and Media

Maria Mejia is a pre-press technician with a passion for activism. A lifelong liberal, democrat, she uses her digital media skills to help grassroots activists promote progressive ideas.

Vice President, human relations

A former high school teacher, Carole Roberts has been interested in politics for most of her life, although she admits that as a teenager, she supported conservative causes.  Fortunately for us, she quickly came to her senses and has been a proud liberal all her adult life. After working in the 2008 campaign, she decided to join the Yes We Can democratic club because it gave her an opportunity to be involved in both political activities and community service.

A semi-retired health care executive, Eileen Ringerman— "I have been politically active with Democratic causes, issues, campaigns since college days. A former president of the Huntington Beach Democratic Club, I have maintained membership in the ACLU, Southern Poverty Law Center and Amnesty International for over twenty years.
