Club Leadership

Club Leadership

We started as a group of grassroots activists who worked hard together during the last presidential election, including travelling many weekends to Nevada.  We enjoyed working together and recognized the need to continue offering our support to the man we helped elect which drove us to charter as a new Democratic club.  We invite all those who share our ideals and desire to help our 44th President succeed.

Our Executive Board  Members

Tri-Chair, Political Action

Christoper Robson, Tri-Chair

Chris is a long term political activist, community organizer, campaign field operations manager and membership recruiter. Chris' political activism goes back to the anti-Vietnam war movement, the 1992 election campaign for Clinton-Gore, and the 2004 Kerry-Edwards campaign where he was a member of the So Cal Grassroots Coordinating Committee and organized travel to the battleground states of Arizona, Nevada, Ohio and Florida.  Chris held the office of president of the Camarillo Democratic Club, was elected as a Delegate to the State Party and ran a congressional campaign among other involvements.

Chris' involvement in the 2008 election included travelling to Nevada and phone banking for Obama-Biden, field operations volunteering for Russ Warner for Congress and working locally to defeat Prop. 8.

Having joined the YWCdc at the 2009 Inaugural Celebration, Chris' focus has been on health care and health insurance reform since June. Working closely with Organizing for America, California, he serves as the Community Organizer for Congressional District 37. He has succeeded in his goal of close cooperation with OFACA, while maintaining the YWCdc as an autonomous organization.

Tri-Chair, Community Service

Cindy, a native Californian, has lived in Long Beach since October 2007. Cindy moved to this area in search of a stronger sense of community.  Cindy began service work over 15 years ago through LA Works, and quickly moved from volunteer to project leadership for LA Works projects such as Habitat for Humanity and the United Way.  Cindy is now a community organizer with SoCal Harvest, a local non-profit group operating under the purview of Food Finders.  SoCal Harvest gathers 'backyard' fruit and vegetables from homeowners and donates the produce to local food banks and shelters.

Barack Obama's is the first political campaign for which Cindy has volunteered.  Cindy's primary focus within the Yes We Can democratic club is leadership and community service work.  Cindy was recently accepted into the City of Long Beach's Neighborhood Leadership Program and will graduate in August 2010. Cindy is a part time student at Long Beach City College; her present studies are geared toward starting a vegan cookie business and writing a children's book.

Cindy Goss, Tri-Chair

Tri-Chair, Operations

Cyndy Fowler, Tri-Chair

Cyndy is a small business owner in Long Beach who with no previous experience with politics began to educate herself on the workings of the Federal Government and current political events during the 2000 Presidential Florida recount.  She joined YWCdc in the Spring of 2009 to give an outlet and louder voice to her progressive values. With the election of Barack Obama, Cyndy saw an opportunity to get active to help push for changes in the political system.

Cyndy believes that it will be local community people movements rather than national party politics that will bring the changes that we need in this country. Although Cyndy joined our club original to 'push the issues', and she was out in front of our Health We Can campaign last year, she began to see the key role of membership and attracting more people to the YWCdc to give our voices more power. Hence she was name Chairman of our Team Unity before agreeing to become one of our Tri-Chairs at the end of 2009.

Secretary

Carole Roberts, Secretary

A former high school teacher, Carole has been interested in politics for most of her life, although she admits that as a teenager, she supported conservative causes.  Fortunately for us, she quickly came to her senses and has been a proud liberal all her adult life. After working in the 2008 campaign, she decided to join the Yes We Can democratic club because it gave her an opportunity to be involved in both political activities and community service.
